Major crimes in Baton Rouge went up slightly in 2011.
Violent crimes like murders, rapes and robberies were down just under three percent.
Burglaries, arsons and car thefts were up just below two percent.
Overall, the number of crimes solved in 2011 rose slightly, but is still above the national average for a city of comparable size.
Serious crime in Baton Rouge has dropped in eight of the last 11 years.
