DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -
High flood waters have closed River Road in Denham Springs.
Despite warning signs, cars tried to drive through the water.
"It's kind of frustrating they are not paying attention to the blockage signs and big trucks have been passing in our driveway and turning around all day long," said Jamie LeJeune.
Water continues to flow, but is expected to retreat within hours.
"A couple of days ago I knew it was starting to come up and I was checking the stages," said Scott Prescott, who lives in the area. "It was changed to 30, then they changed it to 31."
Residents say the flooding happens every couple of years.
